Scannable for Manufacturers | Using Scannable With Other Organisations & Suppliers

How to work with suppliers who manufacturer, and capture serials for your brand

If any of your production is made by another organisation, you can connect to them directly in Scannable — and track their work through the same Production area you use for your own.

Connecting to another organisation

  1. Go to Settings → Connections.

  2. Find your own connection code and hand it to the organisation you want to connect with (out of band — email, phone, however you'd normally share something like this).

  3. To connect to someone who's shared their code with you, use + Add connection and enter it. The organisation it belongs to is shown before the request is sent, so you can check you've got the right one.

  4. The other side sees your request in their own Connections tab and approves or declines it.

Connections can be revoked at any time by either side, from the same tab.

If you'd rather not exchange a code, ask the Scannable team — a super-admin can broker a connection directly between two organisations.

Raising a purchase order

  1. Start a new purchase order — the products, quantities, and other order details.

  2. Choose who's making it: leave it with your own organisation to keep the work in-house, or name a connected organisation to hand it to their Production area instead.

  3. If the account doesn't have serial formats set up yet, you'll be told before you hit an empty picker.

The Production area

Your old Serialisation list is now a Production area, organised by purchase order.

  • Each row is a purchase order. A single-run order stays as one row; a multi-run order expands to show each run underneath, with the product image, the verified-SKU tick, and expected vs. captured serial counts.

  • View serials opens a side panel over any run without leaving the page.

  • If you produce for a brand you're connected to, you'll see a nav entry for that brand alongside your own production — their name and logo appear on the page and in the breadcrumb, so it's always clear whose order you're looking at.

Printing from the Production area

  • A purchase order's actions menu gathers the full print suite for everything under it.

  • Each individual run also has its own print actions — including printing just the first label, useful for checking alignment before committing a full reel of stock.

  • A run that's already complete stops offering print, since there's nothing left to print.

Your Inventory page

Manufacturers now get a dedicated Inventory page — the reels and finished goods your organisation actually holds, kept separate from the products you publish.

If an item in your inventory is marked cuttable, you can cut it into serialised lengths right from there:

  1. Pick the source item — its batch number and date of manufacture carry through to every cut (correcting either on the item corrects the source record too).

  2. Choose the cut length — pick from lengths the reel already has, filter by length or splice type to find the right one, create a new cut-length product in the same flow if it doesn't exist yet, or choose a custom-length product and type the length for that specific cut.

  3. Enter how many to cut, and the order details.

  4. Finish, and you're taken straight to the production run — ready to print its labels.

An Allow cutting checkbox on an item's Update information panel controls whether it offers itself as a source. Your inventory list ticks cuttable stock, filters to it in one click, and offers Cut rope lengths from the item's own actions menu.
