Learn how to add NFC to your equipment to make it phone-scannable

You can only add NFC to an item that has been added to your inventory.

Adding an NFC tag to an item in the Mobile app

  1. Add or search for the item you are adding an NFC Tag to

  2. Tap “+ Add NFC” to open your phone’s NFC Scanner

  3. Hold the NFC Tag against your phone’s NFC Sweet Spot. Give it a few moments. If you’re not sure where your phone’s NFC antenna is, check out this blog.

  4. If you have been successful, you will see an “NFC Added” banner appear

  5. Your item is now connected to the NFC tag

Adding an NFC tag to an item in the Web-based app

You will need a USB NFC Reader to use NFC Tags with the Scannable web-app

  1. Head to the Inventory page of the Scannable web-app

  2. Add or search for the item you are adding an NFC Tag to

  3. Tap “+ Add NFC”. You should see the message “Ready for NFC reader”

  4. Hold the NFC Tag against the NFC Reader. Give it a few moments. We find toward the bottom of the reader in the middle to be a good place to hold your tag

  5. If you have been successful, you will see an “NFC Added” banner appear in the bottom left corner, and “NFC Added” will appear in the NFC field

  6. Your item is now connected to the NFC tag
