Add an Item to Your Inventory

Learn how to add an item to your Inventory using both the mobile app and the web-based app

When you add equipment to your inventory, the first step is usually identifying the Product. Once the Product is selected, your items are created using the product’s information.

Adding items to your Inventory using the web-based app

There are two ways you can add an item to your inventory in the web-app:

  1. In the Product Search section of your Scannable dashboard, search for the product you want to add

  2. Select the item you want to add

  3. Select ‘Add to inventory’

  4. Add your item’s information, and click save

or

  1. In the Inventory section, click ‘+ Item’

  2. Use the search box to search for your item

  3. Click on the item you wish to add

  4. Add your item’s information, and click save


Adding items to your Inventory using the mobile app

You can add equipment to your inventory in the Scannable mobile app in several ways. You can add a single item, or a large batch of identical items.

Add an Item via NFC

  1. Tap the Squircle button

  2. Tap the NFC tab, then tap ‘Scan NFC

  3. Hold the NFC tag against your phone’s NFC sweet spot. You will get a vibration or “Tag detected” message when the tag read is successful.

  4. The Scannable app will check if this NFC already belongs to an existing item.

    1. If the NFC already belongs to an item:

      1. Your item’s details will appear automatically

      2. Review the details and tap ‘Add to Inventory’

    2. If the NFC is not recognised:

      1. Tap ‘Link to a Product’

      2. Use the search box to search for the product

      3. Tap the product to select it

      4. Tap ‘Link to a Product’

      5. Enter the serial number and any required details

      6. Tap ‘Add to Inventory’


Add an Item via Data Matrix / QR Code

  1. Tap the Squircle button

  2. Select the Scan tab, then tap ‘Scan'

  3. Use your phone’s camera to scan the data matrix or QR code

    • Align the code to the middle of the on‑screen camera.

    • Hold steady until the app recognises the code

  4. The Scannable app will then check if the serial number already belongs to an item that is saved to inventory.

    1. If the serial is recognised:

      1. Your item’s details will appear automatically

      2. Review the details and tap ‘Add to Inventory’

    2. If the serial is not recognised:

      1. Tap ‘Link to a Product’

      2. Use the search box to search for the product and tap the product to select it

      3. Tap ‘Link to a Product’

      4. Enter the serial number and any required details

      5. Tap ‘Add to Inventory’


Add a Single Item via Search

Use when: The item does not have an NFC tag or 2D code.

  1. Tap Add Items

  2. Use the search bar to search for the product

  3. Tap the product to select it

  4. Tap ‘Add to Inventory’

  5. Enter the serial number and any required details

  6. (Optional) Tap Add NFC to link an NFC tag

  7. Tap Add to Inventory
